What is the solar system? Definition, planet types and their satellites.

Many mysteries are hidden in space and the universe.  Scientists are engaged in knowing the secrets of the universe.  But we still have to get a lot of information about the universe.  In this episode, man has also reached Mars.  And also imagining life on Mars.  The work of our country's premier institute ISRO in this initiation is commendable.

But you know what a planet is called and what is the difference between a planet and a star.  So in this article, we will know what a planet is called.  And how can a planet and a star be recognized?  Along with this, in this article we will also know some interesting facts of the universe.

What is the solar system called?

The solar system is a group of planets, satellites, meteors and asteroids that revolve around the Sun and the Sun in the Milky Way.  The Sun and all the celestial bodies in the Solar System are bound to each other by the force of gravity.

The Solar System consists of eight planets and their 172 known satellites, five dwarf planets and billions of smaller bodies.  Due to being very small in size, Pluto is counted from the category of planet to the category of dwarf planet.

 Planet

A star is a celestial body revolving around the Sun which is round due to its own gravitational force, which revolves around the Sun, its surrounding area is clear, that is, there is no crowd of other celestial bodies around, that is called a planet.  Is.  Planets do not emit their own heat or light.

A planet is a huge celestial body that revolves around the Sun in a fixed orbit.  The planets have no light of their own but they reflect the light of the Sun.  Earth is also a planet and the only planet in the universe on which life is possible.

 types of planets

The planets are divided into two parts.

 1. Earth or inner planets:- Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are called terrestrial planets because they are similar to Earth.  In other words, because of their high density, they are called terrestrial planets.

 2. Jupiter or outer planets :- Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Varuna are called Jupiter or outer planets.

 Planets names and their interpretation

There are a total of 8 planets in our solar system, whose names and their brief explanation are given below.

 1. Mercury

Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System.  Which does not have any satellites.  It is the closest planet to the Sun.  Its distance from the Sun is 5.83 km.  Apart from Venus, Mercury is also called the morning and evening star.  Mercury is the planet with the highest orbital speed in the Solar System.  Which completes the orbit of the Sun at the speed of 48 kilometers per second in the shortest time of 88 days.

 2. Venus

It is the closest planet to Earth, whose distance is about 40 million kilometers from Earth.  It is the second nearest planet to the Sun and completes its orbit around the Sun in 225 days.  Venus rotates on its axis from east to west.  It is the hottest planet in the solar system.

 3. Earth

Earth is the third largest planet in order of distance from the Sun and the fifth largest in size.  It completes one revolution of the Sun on its axis from west to east at a speed of 1610 kilometers per hour in 23 hours 56 minutes 4 seconds.

 4. Mars

Mars comes fourth in the solar system in order of distance from the Sun and seventh in size.  It completes one rotation on its axis in 24 hours 37 minutes and 23 seconds.  It takes 687 days to orbit the Sun.

 5. Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet in size in the solar system.  It is the fastest rotating planet in the solar system on its axis.  It rotates on its axis once every 9 hours and 55 minutes.  Its orbital period is 11.86 years.

 6. Saturn

Saturn is the second largest planet in the Solar System in size and the smallest planet in order of distance from the Sun.  It looks like a yellow star in the sky.  It rotates on its axis once in 10 hours 40 minutes and it completes one revolution of the Sun in 29.5 years.

 7. Arun

Uranus is the third largest of the Solar System in size and seventh in distance.  It makes one revolution on its axis in about 10 hours 48 minutes.  Whereas its orbital time is 84 years.  Its mass is 14.54 times that of Earth.

 8. Varun

The planet Varuna is the eighth planet in the order of distance from the Sun.  It makes one revolution on its axis in 17.1 hours.  Whereas it takes 164.8 years to make one revolution around the Sun.

What are satellites

Planets have other bodies that orbit them.  These are called satellites.  The Moon is a satellite of Earth.  Like the planets, they do not have their own light and are illuminated by the light of the Sun.  Mercury and Venus are the only two planets that have no satellites.

 what are asteroids called

There are some small celestial bodies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, which revolve around the Sun, they are called asteroids.  Asteroids are also known as minor planets.

The largest asteroid is Ceres with a diameter of about 952 km (592 mi).

 what is a meteorite called

Sometimes one asteroid can collide with another.  This breaks the asteroid into small pieces.  Those pieces are called meteorites.

If a meteorite comes close enough to Earth and enters the Earth's atmosphere, it vaporizes and turns into a meteor.

When these bodies made of dust and gas enter the atmosphere, they come rapidly towards the earth due to the gravity of the earth and appear as a bright strip of light when heated by friction with the atmosphere.  That's why they are also called shooting stars meaning falling stars.

Names of satellites of all planets

Below are the names of all the planets and their satellites.

 Mercury: Mercury has no satellites.

 Venus: Venus has no satellites.

Earth: The moon is the only satellite of the Earth.

Mars: Mars has two satellites named Phobos and Deimos.

Jupiter: The number of satellites of Jupiter is 63.  Ganymede is the largest satellite in the Solar System.  Its other satellites are Io Europa, Callisto, Metis, Himalia, Parsiphae, Almathea, etc.

Saturn: The number of satellites of Saturn is 62.  In which the largest satellite is Titan.  Apart from this, Lapetus, Dione, Tepis, Insalite, Mimas, Phoebe, Pandora etc. are prominent.

Arun: The number of satellites of Arun is 27.  In which Titania is the largest satellite.  Apart from this, Overon, Miranda, Portia are its other satellites.  Portia is the smallest satellite of Uranus.

Varuna: The number of satellites of Varuna is 13.  In which Titan is the main one.
